Safari Update Cheetah Immobilisation Safari -This safari assists a private game reserve in the Eastern Cape Province with the responsible management of their cheetah population, while giving guests a once-in-a-lifetime hands on experience!

This safari affords clients the opportunity to be involved in a cheetah immobilisation, carried out by one of the African Vet Safaris Wildlife Vets, and the subsequent procedures – blood sampling, treatment and placing a tracking collar on the patient. The time preceding and after the immobilisation allows time for traditional game drives and learning more about cheetah and other wildlife species, as well as preparing you for the immobilisation procedure.

Guests are given the opportunity to participate in the procedures being carried out, once the animal is immobilised, and it is thus safe to move closer. Guests have the option of a hands-on approach, or, if they prefer, simply observing from up close and getting those pictures of a lifetime! Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime safari, while helping to conserve one of Africa’s endangered wildlife species through your participation……..
10 Night Best Value Lodge Safari - Botswana
Visit Victoria Falls, Chobe, Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta & Makgadikgadi from US$ 3830 per person sharing!
Botswana is home to the Okavango Delta, Kalahari Desert, Chobe National Park and the beautiful and diverse MoremiGame Reserve.
The Moremi Game Reserve covers much of the eastern side of the Delta, and combines permanent water, with drier areas – making for some startling, and unexpected contrasts. In the Moremi you can experience excellent savannah game viewing by 4x4, as well as bird-watching on the lagoons. There are also thickly wooded areas, which are home to the shy, and rare, Leopard. To the north-east lies the Chobe National Park which borders directly on to the Moremi Game Reserve.

Next to the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park is probably Botswana’s next most well known conservation area. It is a diverse area, from the border at the Chobe River, to the now dry Savute Channel, and beyond to the borders of the MoremiGame Reserve / Okavango Delta. The Park is best known for its concentrations of elephant – some 120 000 individuals, along with good numbers of buffalo, antelope and predators. Birding is also excellent, with many migrants visiting from November to March.
In the north-west corner of this otherwise dry country, and covering some 16,000 square kilometres, is the maze of channels, lagoons and palm-covered islands that make up the Okavango Delta. This is the largest inland Delta in the world, and water levels vary on a seasonal basis with the rains in the Angolan highlands actually contributing more water that the rains falling on the Delta during the November to March period.
This safari offers an incredible wildlife experience that will leave you speechless......

Safari Focus - Big Cat Safari
Species Specific Interactive Safaris give guests the opportunity to focus on a species of their choice and get to know it inside out, while still enjoying general game (wildlife) viewing and participating in unusual activities involving your species of choice!

These safaris often start in a controlled environment such as a breeding centre, which allows time to observe characteristics and behaviour from up close while getting to know your favourite wildlife species. Sometimes there is also the opportunity to participate in an immobilisation procedure during this time, if any routine management procedures need to be carried out. The safari then moves to a more remote reserve where we interact with scientists and field researchers to learn more about our chosen species and its adaptations in the particular wildlife sanctuary we are working in. Where possible, guests are afforded the opportunity to participate in "unusual" activities involving your species, such as tracking exercises using tracking equipment (Telemetry) and interaction with researchers.

During this second half of this safari there are generally one or more immobilisation procedures planned with the species in question, which is normally the most exhilarating experience of all! As always, activities are optional and guests have a choice as to how hands-on they wish to be.
Your participation ensures sizeable financial contributions to the conservation bodies we work with, thus contributing directly to the conservation of your chosen species.

During our Big Cat Safari guests come face to face with the magnificent cheetah, the leopard, African Wild Dog, African Elephant, and of course the mighty Lion...
We also have an Elephant and Rhino Safari in this category. This safari focuses on elephant and rhino, as the name suggest, and includes veterinary work with both species. As always, many other species will be viewed and enjoyed along the way, making this an ideal safari for first time visitors, as well as seasoned travellers to Africa wanting something new and exciting!
Join us on a Species Specific Interactive Safari and know that your dreams about Africa will never be the same again.

Paterson Spay Day - Last year some of you may recall that we were approached by the SPCA here in Grahamstown to help with a neutering campaign. Paterson is a local community that we work closely with. The Spay Day is part of an ongoing project where there is a desperate need for help at all levels in this community. This year we initiated the project and collaborated with the SPCA to help the dogs and cats of Paterson. The difference this year was that we had more vets = more expertise = more neuters! We again used the community hall as our make shift reception area/prep area/theatre/recovery/kennels. We neutered 71 dogs and 15 cats in a 9 hour day, no mean feat!

We also educated the community on improving the care given to their animals and better animal husbandry. The day was stressful but thoroughly rewarding for everyone. Brothers Safaris would just like to say a massive thank you to all the Arizona Vets that gave up a day of the holiday (for free!) to help with this much needed campaign. They also contributed financially as part of their safari cost and helped with materials such as gloves. Various other Brothers Safaris guests, notably the ladies from the preceding Adventures for Singles safari group, also made considerable financial contributions to the day – thank you all! Without everybody’s hard work and contributions, this would never have been possible - from planning to doing to finances - THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...
4 Night Victoria Falls & Chobe packages from US$700-00 per person sharing

Victoria Falls is a major African tourist attraction, with two national parks--one in Zambia and one in Zimbabwe--and a footbridge joining the two countries that allows visitors to view the falls from only 200 feet away. The Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the world, lies in southern Africa, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls was chosen one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World by the nonprofit group "Seven Natural Wonders".

Put simply, the Okavango Delta boasts one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in the world. Tens of thousands of elephant and buffalo roam the Delta, often in large herds, while the several thousand hippos that move through the channels keep the waterways open. The most abundant antelope is the red lechwe, usually seen grazing on the floodplains or dashing through shallow water with their strange loping stride. The shy reedbuck and semi-aquatic sitatunga creep through thick cover while waterbuck, impala, tsessebe and kudu prefer the surrounding grasslands and woods. The rare sable and roan antelopes can be spotted slipping out of the woodlands to drink.Giraffe slowly nod their way across the savannah, while herds of skittish wildebeest or regal zebra are all commonly seen on game drives or walks.
The abundance of herbivores encourages high numbers of predators: big prides of lion, whooping packs of spotted hyena and the ever watchful Nile crocodile make up the apex predators; cheetah and African wild dog are relatively common on the larger grasslands and floodplains while leopards are often seen moving through cover or lazing on the bough of a riverine tree.
