TREAT YOURSELF TO A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS GIFT OF SAFARI BREAKAWAY ON AMAKHALA GAME RESERVE
AmakhalaWhy not begin your Christmas holidays or recharge your batteries after a hectic festive season with a 3 or 4 day breakaway to Amakhala Game Reserve in the malaria free Eastern Cape region of South Africa.

Amakhala Game Reserve began in 1999 as a joint conservation venture and today has several independently owned lodges, many of which are owner managed by the descendants of the original families who arrived here with the British settlers of 1820.  The vegetation and landscape are awe inspiring and the time spent in this reserve of approximately 7000 hectares will teach you a great deal about African wildlife.  The reserve is home to a variety of species, including lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and numerous other antelope species.  See www.lionroars.com.

Your typical day will commence with an early wake up call for tea and coffee refreshments before heading out onto the reserve in an open game viewing vehicle with your professional ranger to explore the abundant wildlife and diverse vegetation of the dramatic landscape of the Eastern Cape.  Returning to the lodge for a hearty meal , your midday period is time to relax and unwind with perhaps a refreshing swim or a lazy siesta before another exciting excursion into the reserve in the late afternoon to look for more species that you haven’t yet ticked off your list.  There is nothing quite like stopping for an evening sundowner in a picturesque location and watching the sun set in an African sky to restore the peace and tranquillity of your soul!  Pre-dinner drinks followed by your evening meal in a candlelit boma ends your exciting day.  For the more active visitor there are guided walks in the reserve accompanied by a professional ranger, and the birdlife to be spotted on a river cruise up the Bushman’s River which runs through the reserve is abundant.Bush_Lodge
