Mozambique with its enchanting people, full of welcoming kindness and consideration, is bathed by the Indian Ocean. It is a land full of life and hidden beauty, with untouched nature stretching from the endless pristine beaches of Tungué Bay in the far north to the diving enthusiasts’ paradise at Ponta de Ouro in the south. And in between there are the paradise islands of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique Island, with its centuries of history and culture, truly a World Heritage site, the treasures of the Bazaruto Archipelago Nature Reserve, nature’s gift of Inhambane, where migrating whales pass by without fail, and the beach at Xai Xai, where delicious fresh oysters wet the appetite for more.
Mozambique is also one of the world’s new sanctuaries. It is investing in the recovery of its wildlife, with a great variety of nature reserves, in addition devoting resources to tourism with high quality hunting safaris, but at the same time working to develop greater awareness of the environment.
In the towns and cities that seem so familiar to us, a great diversity of history and cultures is melded into the architecture, and the pulse of daily life can be felt, from the bustle of the markets to the striking handicrafts, from the museums to the bars and restaurants, Mozambique has it all!
Please have a look below at some examples of Mozambique’s best rated lodges, but please do note that we can book you in any lodge in Mozambique, with a varying budget and ranging from 3 – 5 stars. Please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org for more options.
Flamingo Bay Water Lodge Mozambique is situated in the tropical tidal bay of Inhambane, 485km north of Maputo. The name comes from the flocks of flamingos who assume this bushy island home. Luxury water chalets, contemporary zen dens, hot stone therapies, and other couple combos make Flamingo Bay Inhambane Accommodation a kind of sensory indulgence.
The main building and chalets are connected by wooden walkways where golf carts are available to ferry guests. The main building can also be accessed from the land and is fronted by the tidal waters of the bay. A secure parking area is available for guests vehicles.
Our luxury water chalets are spacious and well appointed with a balcony, wide opening sliding doors and air-conditioning. The chalets and furniture are constructed from beautiful local hardwoods from Mozambique. Each chalet is situated on stilts in the crystal clear tidal waters off Inhambane Bay. Sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and boating may be enjoyed directly from each chalet.
The well positioned restaurant, overlooking the Barra estuary, offers scrumptious meals with whatever seafood has been caught locally, and served fresh. We regularly have fresh prawns, crab and calamari. For those non-seafood lovers there is always another choice, either a meat or chicken dish. The comfortable lounge allows one to relax in a peaceful environment while enjoying a drink or light snack.

Zavora Lodge is situated on one of the finest stretches of coastline in the Inhambane province. The lodge consists of a bar and restaurant, beachfront houses, bungalows and campsites. Some campsites are on the top of the dune and the bungalows and more campsites are situated behind the dune on well-grassed shady areas. The lodge is considered a very comfortable resort. The excellent fishing and unspoilt beauty of miles and miles of coastline and reefs is what makes Zavora Lodge a unique holiday destination.
Zavora is recognized to be one of the best fishing and diving areas in Mozambique and is frequented by many avid fishermen and divers. Launching is done from the bay that is protected by a reef. This reef also creates a natural tidal pool that is excellent for snorkelling and swimming. The location of the bar, restaurant and deck offers a magnificent view of the Zavora reef and it’s bay. Plenty of Humpback whales are sighted from the deck of the bar during June to November. Occasionally Eagle and Manta Rays burst from the surface in brief flights as well as the streamlined and graceful Sailfish. Dolphins are regularly seen feeding and playing in the bay. Away from the sea, quad bike excursions to the inland lakes are an experience not to be missed.
